Need help in locating origin of families named Brilla and Tharta

Description

My mother’s parents, Michael Brilla and Pauline Tharta Brilla, arrived in the U.S. sometime around 1900. Census reports note Austria as their birth country and Slavish as their nationality. My grandather’s military registration in 1942 lists Tovsa, Austria-Hungary as his place of birth. Would appreciate help in finding the exact location of Tovsa.

Correction to request of 3/21/2010 for help in finding Brilla and Tharta families. My grandfather, Michael (Michel) Brilla, was born 02 Aug 1880 in Michalovce, Slovakia. He arrived in USA with his mother, Anna, and sister, Maria, on 05 Feb 1892.

My grandmother, Pauline Trachta (not Tharta), was born abt 1881 in Josza (Jovsa), Slovakia. She arrived in USA on 09 Feb 1902, possibly with a sister, Catherine.

Would appreciate help in finding information on other family members who emigrated, and relatives who remained in Slovakia.
