CGSI Quarterly Program - August 2012

A CGSI Quarterly Program was held at the MGS library building Saturday August 18, 2012.

The presentations were related to Locating, Interpreting, and Recording Original Church Baptismal, Marriage and Death Records

The number of original, digitized records available online is increasing all of the time. These are copies of the original records as hand written by the clergyman in the writing style of the period. They may be in a variety of languaes including Czech, Slovak, German, Latin, or Hungarian. This program was for the interested Czech and Slovak researcher who wants to learn how to find, locate and interpret these resources.

Presenters were CGSI members who have made extensive use of online records for their own research. Al Kranz, Terri DiCarlo, Suzette Steppe, and Kathy Jorgenson demonstrated how to find the correct records, how to extract the information, how to interpret the data and how to organize your results. They shared the tips they have learned as they have done their own research.
