CGSI Organizational Structure

The CGSI Executive Committee is made up of six officers and 10 committee chairs and runs the day-to-day operations of our society. Committee members attend the monthly meetings either in person at the Minnesota Genealogy Center or virtually through GoToMeeting software tool so that members living anywhere can serve.

The CGSI Board of Directors consists of six officers and nine directors at-large. Either one or two of the at-large positions are filled by past presidents, depending on the number of terms as President. The directors are responsible for making broad policy decisions, such as establishing the levels and rates of membership, and recommending changes to the articles of incorporation or bylaws.

CGSI attempts to obtain a broad geographical representation on the board to receive input from persons of varying backgrounds and interests. The Board of Directors meet a minimum of three times annually, with most meetings held virtually via GoToMeeting software tool.

All positions carry three-year terms, staggered so that approximately one-third of the positions are open each year. The Executive Committee and the Board of Directors are responsible for meeting the various needs of our members. The smooth operation of the day-to-day activities of the society depends on member volunteers, whether in society leadership positions, on operating committees, or on special projects. We always need members to volunteer their service to their society. We continue to be successful with the dedicated help of our members.

The Nominating Committee for this year's slate of candidates was appointed by President Kevin Hurbanis and included Suzette Steppe (Past President), Evelyn Funda, Paul Makousky, Robin Selvig, and Carol Smetana.
