Banes or variation of spelling

Looking for information on my paternal grandfather. He came to Elberon, Iowa, on the Orphan Train in or around 1893, possibly at the age of eight and spoke the Czech language. He may have been an orphan after his mother died and his father was sent to prison for killing the soldier who raped his mother. Born in Bohemia, it is thought. Name, as we know it, was Rudolph Banes. He lived in Tama County, Iowa, and Nobles County, Minnesota.
