Searching for my grandmother Ann Tomcsik, along with John Husar in 1906, shows her name, as mother of Anna Husar baptized, July 1906 at St. Augustine church in Bridgeport PA. John Podhorin shows as the godfather. Grandfather Husar has papers showing from Zahor Slovakia. Trying to find Ann Tomcsik family or town. Anna Husar shows the town of Swedeland PA on other records. I have help in Sk searching records. Could Podhorin and Tomcsik be related. any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Not associated to any historical society. I think we communicated a while back. I got a copy of my mother’s baptism record from a church in Bridgeport/Norristown eastern PA. Got the spelling of my grandmother Ann Tomcsik. The godparents were John Podhorin and a Brigit Kotcan, But that spelling might be off. My grandmother died young so when my mother got married, she put her step-mother on her application. There fore, I’m lost. All from Slovakia. If you have anything before 1911 on Tomcsik, this would help. Thank you Joanne

Hi. Are you associated with the Fayette County Historical Society? Your email address seems familiar to me.

Zahor is located in Eastern Slovakia today, very near to the border with Ukraine. My paternal grandmother Anna SZTARUCH was born in Stare, near Michalovce which is where Zahor is located. My maternal grandfather Charles William BIDZILYA/BIZILYA was born in Dorobratovo, Zakarpattya Oblast Ukraine near Uzhhorod.

Anna was married to Michael RUSZNAK/RUSNAK in 1903 in a Byzantine Church in Leisenring, Faytette County PA. At that time he changed family name to MILLER for reasons he never shared.

I have taken AncestryDNA and Family Tree Y-DNA tests. I am related by DNA to several persons in these organizations that have HUDAK, HUSAR and TOMCSIK on their family trees.

I’m a lifetime member of Dunbar Historical Society. Related to Vince DiBease. I know Mike Bell and Donna Myers.
