2018 Symposium a Great Success

Thanks to all the volunteers, speakers, and especially Kevin Hurbanis for chairing the 2018 Symposium. We had a great turnout. The presentations were very well received and, as usual, it was a super opportunity for members and guests to share the genealogy successes and opportunities. We have begun posting videos of the presentations by the speakers who have grantied us permission to post. Watch for them in the Education and Webinars section of the website. (Oct 2018)

Special thanks Mike Servais

Mike Servais has been a long time member from Tennessee and has been doing a great job of reviewing each of the Family Histories that have been posted. He is the person who is providing the introductory information such as author’s name, book size, abstract information, villages and surnames found. Huge thanks, Mike, for staying on top of adding that content for each new Family History we post! (Oct 2018)

SOUPIS IS NOW ONLINE!

Links to the 11 volumes of the Soupis poddaných podle víry z roku 1651 (List of Subjects According to the Faith of 1651) for Bohemia have now been added in the Member Home, Education and Webinars tab in the Research folder. Note that the books are only for Bohemia, not Moravia or Slovakia. Tip: You can open each book and use Ctrl F to search for a surname, and the map below the links gives a general idea of which areas the individual books cover. (Oct 2018)

Volunteer shout out-- Lynn Tenney

CGSI member Lynn Tenney just completed digitizing over 200,000 index cards in a collection given to CGSI by charter member Karleen Chott Sheppard. This collection will soon be added to our Member Home section as a new database. It contains births, marriages, deaths and other data for thousands of people in the upper midwest. Thanks, Lynn, you are helping make this available to all our members! (Sep 2018)
