Halacek and Zajics

Description

I’m looking for the village of origin and dates of birth of my grandparents, Albert Halacek and Mary Zajics (not sure the spelling on this)(it was pronounced something like Zeits). Mary also had a sister, Julia Zeits, who died in around 1955 in a different area of Chicago from her sister and brother in law. Julia was probably born around 1893 in Czechoslovakia, Mary a little earlier, or they both might have been born in Chicago where their parents immigrated, or at least the grandmother, Barbara Zajics. My grandfather, Albert Halacek, was a laborer in Chicago and was said to have fled Czechoslovakia as a teenager, probably in the 1910’s, or maybe earlier because he died in Chicago in the 1960’s at age 75, I was told. They lived on Berwyn Avenue in the southside of Chicago, in a poor neighborhood with a lot of other Bohemians, Slovaks possibly, and Poles. My mother, Mildred Halacek, went to Farragut High School in the late 30’s, early 40’s. My mother always made the point that the family was Bohemian, not Slovak, like this was a class thing. Any information would be appreciated.
